Vintage John Galliano Floral Deco Bias Cut Tiered Ruffle Dress (S/S2005 Collection)

Vintage John Galliano Floral Deco Bias Cut Tiered Ruffle Dress (S/S2005 Collection)
A collection inspired by the “Poor Little Rich Girl” Barbara Hutton.
This exquisite Floral Deco Silk chiffon dress by John Galliano, from his 2005 Spring-Summer collection is cut on the bias and provides a sublime 30s line across the body. Known for his ability to blend diverse influences, Galliano’s work in this piece is a testament to his influence on early 21st-century fashion, with the shape being so reminiscent of off duty models and socialites of the naughties (pair with heeled thong sandal for full effect!).
The dress features a delicate, lightweight floral print in green and beige, elegantly continuing the art deco glamour. The bias-cut construction flatters, skimming the body. The tiered ruffle detailing at the skirt is a remarkable display of skilful dressmaking, making this a rare, archival piece that renders trend cycles obsolete in favour of exceedingly chic taste.
