£0.00

From John Galliano’s debut runway collection for Dior (March 1997), this rare piece was worn on the runway by Carolyn Murphy. Galliano’s Dior’s Little Sweetheart Pin-Ups collection blended historical and global influences—Edwardian fashion, Chinese cheongsams, and romanticised military uniforms—into bold, theatrical silhouettes, showcasing his couture expertise and redefining Dior for the 1990s.

This dress reinterprets the cheongsam in crisp blue silk brocade with white floral motifs. Featuring a mandarin collar, cut-out neckline, nipped waist, and architectural skirt, its asymmetric pearl-beaded shoulder and collar add luminous detail. Contrasting lilac and chartreuse trims, razor-sharp folds, and daring cut-outs create a dialogue between hard and soft, East and West, historical and playful.

A highlight of the collection, it was selected for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2015 China: Through the Looking Glass, cementing its place in fashion history. With impeccable provenance and museum-level craftsmanship, it offers a rare opportunity to acquire a cornerstone of late 20th-century couture and ready-to-wear design.

Labelled as a size 10 but best suited to a UK 4-6
