A very special Reissue: Lady Dior and the 1996 Met Gala

Originally named the Chou Chou, the navy Mini Lady Dior with palladium and house signature cannage stitching. Let’s not forget the strass crystal encrusted Dior charms was first spotted in Princess Diana’s grasp as she entered the Met Gala in 1996 arm in arm of long time friend and Harpers Bazaar Editor Liz Tilberis.

The now named Lady Dior was designed by Gianfranco Ferre especially for the event & re-issued by then head creative John Galliano as a custom design to match her navy silk & lace Dior slip dress, it was one of the first couture dresses designed by Galliano, as his debut at one of the worlds most renowned French fashion house.

It was first gifted to Princess Diana in September 1995 by Bernadette Chirac, France’s first lady and wife of Jacques Chirac when she visited Paris for the opening of a Paul Cézanne retrospective exhibition at the Grand Palais.

In 2022 we saw a limited re-edition of this iconic satin and cannage stitched design, with a limited edition run of only 200 pieces made worldwide only available exclusively to elite clientele at the house of Dior. Well guess what we have one & it has landed on the website now!
